Austurland Freeride Festival is a freeride ski festival in Austurland, East Iceland

The Austurland Freeride Festival is a new backcountryskiing and snowboarding festival in Fjardabyggð. the Emphasis is to enjoy the nature of the East Fjords with experienced local mountaineers.

Various cultural events will take place in the area during the festival, such as concerts, dinner and food experiences.

The main event is only within the reach of experienced mountaineers.

The Two Harbors – Here you travel through two mountain ranges, both at a height of about 800 meters in one day ending in a different fjord than it started in.

The summit – Here you go up to a 1,000m. high summit and ski down

Beginner’s course in backcountry skiing and split board riding takes place in Oddskarð.

Avalanche course where the main dangers of the mountains are covered and their main response

General instruction on the equipment

On the final day the group will travel with the ski lift in Oddskarð and continue from there with our experienced guides to higher ground before descending to the snow line.

A complete program is due in early February.
