Sector Light – Gallerí Klaustur

Sector Light

In seafaring, lighthouses emit colored sector lights to indicate safe passage through shallow or dangerous waters.
(Re)reading the notes from my last stay in Iceland back in 2017, the Grótta lighthouse at the tip of the Seltjarnarnes peninsula continually comes up as a fixed point of reference.
By arranging these text fragments in the exhibition space according to the lighthouse’s color sectors, I try to (re)locate a safe passage back to the place, the land, its history, the language – thus creating a 360° poetic seascape.
