Departure at 10:00 from Tjarnarás 8, Egilsstaðir, where can join in cars. The price is 500 ISK and is handed to the guide at departure.
In Jökuldalur walley at Fljótsdalshérað you will find a natural pearl that has long been unknown. It was hidden under water until after the Kárahnjúkar power plant was put into operation and the water levels in the Jökulsá á Dal declined. This pearl is the part of the Jökulsá canyon called Stuðlagil. The name is derived from the fact that it is home to one of the largest and most beautiful columnar basalt formations in Iceland.
The hike is to Stuðlagil.
The meeting point is 10:00 in Tjarnarás 8 in Egilsstaðir.
