Hammond Festival

Djúpivogur Hammond Festival is an annual 4 day music festival, taking place in the beautiful town of Djúpivogur, Iceland.
The main purpose of the “Djúpivogur Hammond Festival” is to introduce and promote the Hammond organ. Every year, well known, as well as local musicians make sure that they include the Hammond organ in their program.
The First Day of Summer (sumardagurinn fyrsti) is an annual public holiday in Iceland held on the first Thursday after 18 April. It is also the first day of the “Djúpivogur Hammond Festival”. Thursday night is reserved for musicians from Djúpivogur and neighbouring towns and villages in the east. Friday and Saturday night brings out the bigger names of the Icelandic music scene. Sunday’s concert is more laid back and held at the local church usually featuring a solo singer accompanied by a Hammond player.
The “Djúpivogur Hammond Festival” in 2016, attracked the biggest attendance so far with the number of 1.150 people enjoying the four concerts. The festival is the biggest cultural event in Djúpivogur and over the four days visitors can explore the offerings of local craftsmen, off venue performances and the extrodinary nature of Djúpivogur.
