Bræðslan

29. July, 2017 - 30. July, 2017

Bræðslan is a music festival that focuses on friendly atmosphere, having fun and of course great music. The festival is held in Borgarfjörður eystri on the East Coast of Iceland, a small village with about 120 inhabitants, surrounded by colourful mountains and beautiful landscape.

The festival venue is a 50 years old fish factory that for this one time of year is turned in to a wonderworld of music. The festival was first held in 2005 and has since then been held annually on the last weekend of July. Only about 900 tickets are sold for the festival each year.

Most of the festivals guests stay at the camping place of the village or enjoy the hospitality of the locals. The festival is organized by a group of locals that have a clear vision for the festival.
The purpose is to make an enjoyable experience for the locals and the guests, and to make Borgarfjörður eystra a better place to live in and to visit.

Next summer (2017) the main concert will be on the Saturday July 29th.

The festival has set out to host a broad mix of indie/rock/pop artists, offering both young talents and veterans to play at the festival. Young artists such as Of Monsters and men, Mammút and Ásgeir and more experienced Icelanders such as Hjálmar, Megas, Bubbi Morthens, Páll Óskar, Mugison, Jónas Sigurðsson, Prins Póló, Emsími, Lay Low and many more have performed at the festival. On top of that international artists such as Emilíana Torrini, Glen Hansard, Belle and Sebastian, Eyvör Pálsdóttir and Damien Rice has performed at the festival in recent years.

Lot of off-venue gigs take place in the village in the week leading up to the festival, in addition with the main concert in the old fish factory.
